Soraci, Antonello

He was born in Messina on February 9, 1963. His passion for music manifested quite late, at the age of 16. He began studying classical guitar with the masters Salvo Pirrello and Enrico Carnabuci; he continued on his own and approached the world of composition mainly thanks to his friendship with the Mafali brothers and Maria Fausta Rizzo. From them, he always received advice and encouragement.

He began writing his first works with a certain continuity in 2008 and submitted them to the attention of maestro Nicola Oteri in 2012. A collaboration was born with him, resulting in the publication of the "10 Descriptive Studies for Guitar," published by Diaphonia along with the CD recorded by Nicola Oteri. During the same period, he met maestro Giuseppe Mangano and also started a collaboration with him, which materialized in two publications by Diaphonia: "10 Motifs for Guitar" and "20 Descriptive Motifs for Guitar," for which Giuseppe Mangano took care of the revision and fingering.

Apart from works for solo guitar, he has written more than twenty works for guitar and soprano saxophone (still unpublished but often performed in Italy and abroad by the masters Gianfranco Brundo and Nicola Oteri), various compositions for guitar ensemble (one of which, "Tormenta tropical," was included in the CD "6 Strings on the Strait" along with Lullaby, a short composition for solo guitar dedicated to Pippo Mafali), guitar and flute, guitar and cello, duets, etc.

He has always listened to music of all genres and welcomes influences of all kinds in his compositions but continues, and will always continue, to define himself as an "amateur composer" because he finds "delight" in composing and because professionally he is involved in other activities: he is an interpreter and teaches simultaneous translation and Italian for foreigners. He believes that there is a profound connection between music and languages.
